Mathews Canyon Dam: An Army Corps of Engineers earthfill flood-control dam completed in 1957, 63 feet tall with an 800-foot crest, built to protect the railroad and the lower Muddy River basin. Its pool has risen as high as 5,454 feet (January 11, 2005). (resreg.spl.usace.army.mil)
